You may have noticed that the West Memphis School District has introduced a new district logo. This change represents much more than a new design—it reflects the voices of our community and our shared vision for the future. For many years, several different versions of the district logo were used across schools and departments. While each served its purpose, the lack of a consistent identity no longer reflected who we are as a unified school district or the direction we are headed.
More than a year ago, the district began a thoughtful logo review process by asking for input from our community through a public survey. The goal was to create one official district logo that represents unity, pride, and our commitment to providing exceptional opportunities for every student. Survey results showed strong support for refreshing the district's visual identity. One consistent theme emerged: while the Blue Devils name continues to be an important part of our tradition, many respondents expressed discomfort with the devil imagery that had been incorporated into previous logo designs.
Using that feedback, professional designers developed several new logo concepts. Those concepts were reviewed by multiple stakeholder focus groups, whose suggestions helped shape several rounds of revisions. The designs were eventually narrowed to three finalists, which were presented to the West Memphis School District Board of Education. The Board selected two finalists for district employee feedback before approving the final logo in June 2026.
Our schools will continue to proudly celebrate their individual identities. Richland Elementary will remain the Rockets, Wonder Junior High will remain the Lions, and West Memphis High School will always be the Blue Devils.
The new district logo serves a different purpose. It creates one unified identity that represents every school, department, employee, and student throughout the West Memphis School District. From the day a student enrolls until the day they graduate—and wherever life takes them afterward—they are part of one district family. This new logo honors our history while reflecting our future: one district, one community, and one commitment to student success.
