Attendance Matter text with colored hands raised

Regular school attendance positively contributes to the overall well-being of children, families, and the community. Students who attend school regularly are more likely to be better readers, graduate high school, and get higher pay in their careers. Our district wants your child to succeed.

Absences may be excused for reasons such as illness, family emergencies, religious observances, medical or government appointments, approved school activities, certain military-related family events, and other circumstances approved by the principal. To receive an excused absence, a parent or guardian must submit a written note. A medical absence may be considered excused when a student is absent due to illness, medical appointments, or other health-related conditions and provides appropriate documentation from a licensed healthcare provider.

Please refer to the WMSD handbook, on the website, for further information.
